10 Things You Didn’t Know About Mary-Kate Olsen

Mary-Kate Olsen is one of those celebrities who was pretty much born in the spotlight. Since before she could walk or talk, she’s been really famous. Unlike many other child stars, she never imploded and is still as successful as ever. In celebration of her birthday, here are 10 things you didn’t know about the pint-sized star:

10. A Free Spirit

9. Art Collector

She collects art. Her pieces include works by Andy Warhol, German photographer Thomas Ruff and the controversial Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki.

8. Caffeine Addict

She loves coffee and she has since she was a child. “When I was younger, on weekends, my mom would make us pancakes with our initials on them and then a tiny cup of coffee,” she told W magazine. She quickly became an addict. “I remember at 10 sneaking my own coffee and pouring a ton of sugar in and going up to the playroom and drinking it.”

7. Connection to Heath Ledger

She was a close friend of Heath Ledger’s (although some people say that they were a little more than friends). When his masseuse discovered him dead in his apartment, the first person she called was Mary-Kate, who sent some of her security people to the scene.

1. Beauty Icon

Her beauty icon is Lauren Hutton. “We were just talking about Lauren Hutton and how she’s such a woman in every single sense of the word. She’s known for her beauty but not because of how she looks, but because of who she is and what she stands for. She’s a more natural beauty who’s both approachable and relatable,” she told Elle.
