The Real Housewives of Potomac took the Bravo world by storm when it aired earlier this year in January. As the eighth installment in the Real Housewives franchise, the show was a huge success and it quickly became one of the most watched Real Housewives series. RHOP followed the personal and professional lives of six women living in the elite community of Potomac, Maryland. These women revive the longtime battle between old money and new money as they each bring something different to the table in terms of culture, racial diversity, religion, financial status, and of course the theme of the show, rules of etiquette. It was recently announced that Bravo would be renewing RHOP for another season, so we’ve decided to take a look at 10 things you might not have known about The Real Housewives of Potomac!
8. Opening Theme
Each and every Real Housewives show follows the same similar format, especially when it comes to the opening credits where the women are introduced. They have their own signature tag line and afterwards all come together during the theme song typically holding something that is specific or representative of their particular city. For example, on The Real Housewives of New York City the women are seen holding an apple, on The Real Housewives of Orange County it’s an orange, on The Real Housewives of Atlanta it’s a peach, but for some reason on The Real Housewives of Potomac it’s simply a champagne glass. If RHOP were following the standard rules they’d all be holding a crab which is Maryland’s most well known export, but for obvious reasons that just wouldn’t fly with the Real Housewives franchise. The question has never really been properly answered, although we can speculate that the women clutch onto a champagne glass because it’s a very classy and elegant drink, and we all know the RHOP are big on being the most fancy and proper women in all of America.
