11 Best Friends Quotes

Source: 123topimages.net

Sometimes a show is so popular, so beloved, and so re-watched that lines from it become part of our everyday life without us knowing just how much. Friends is a perfect example of this. Having ended years ago, but still running strong in re-runs and on streaming sites, we’re still adding bits of Phoebe, Joey, Ross, Rachel, Chandler, and Monica’s most famous lines into our every speech. Top that off with some memorable lines from reccurring guest characters that were just as lovable and it has become a show whose quotes are recognized by the masses. Here are 11 of the best quotes from Friends:

11. “My wallet’s too small for my fifties AND MY DIAMOND SHOES ARE TOO TIGHT.” — Chandler

Life can be full of hard choices, but sometimes those choices are a little easier to handle than others. When Ross is forced to choose between Rachel and Julie, Chandler isn’t too sympathetic towards his friend’s predicament. “Oh, I know, this must be so hard. ‘Oh no, two women love me. They’re both gorgeous and sexy. My wallet’s too small for my fifties AND MY DIAMOND SHOES ARE TOO TIGHT.’” Now a popular way to respond to anyone who complains about their embarrassment of riches.

10.” Isn’t that just kick-you-in-the-crotch, spit-on-your-neck fantastic?” — Rachel

Before the diamond shoes, Rachel was just realizing her feelings for Ross, but that’s when Julie showed up. Rachel was just a little sarcastic in response to Ross and Julie’s meet-cute story. “Isn’t that just kick-you-in-the-crotch, spit-on-your-neck fantastic.” Because don’t we all feel fantastic when we’re kicked in the crotch or are spit on … or not.

9. “They Don’t Know That We Know That They Know” — Pheobe

“They don’t know that we know that they know.” Try to say that 10 times fast! It’s Phoebe and Rachel against Chandler and Monica when the former Friends want a secret relationship revealed and the latter want the relationship to stay between the two involved and between the sheets. It’s a game of wits brought up by the world’s perfect quip for when you’re in the know, ya know?

8. “Unagi” — Ross

If you’ve never pointed your fingers at your head and said, “Unagi,” then there’s a chance that you’re not really a hardcore Friends fan, sorry to say. Now the way to show off your (sorta, kinda, maybe) deep knowledge of deep things, Ross was the first to show us the way of Unagi. Ross: “I studied karate for a long time, and there’s a concept you should really be familiar with. It’s what the Japanese call unagi.” Rachel: “Isn’t that a kind of sushi?” Ross: “No, it’s a concept.” Phoebe: “Yeah, it is! It is! It’s freshwater eel.” Ross: “All right, maybe it means that too.” Rachel: “Ooh! I would kill for a salmon skin roll right now.”

7. “Smelly Cat” — Pheobe

“Smelly cat, smelly cat, what are they feeding you?” Oh, Smelly Cat, you may have been a stinky fictitious lyrics-based creature, but you certainly became a beloved part of the Friends’ legacy. From a simple tune that Phoebe sang regularly in Central Perk to a professionally recorded single with its own video, it managed to stick with the show throughout its entire run. Try singing out “Smelly cat, smelly cat” and see how many people around you join in with “what are they feeding you?”

6. “Pivot!” — Ross

Pivot! Pivot! Pivot! If you’re helping a friend move or transporting some furniture, you know you’re a Friends fan if at some point you yell “PIVOT!” An epic scene involving Ross, Rachel, and Chandler attempting to move Ross’s new couch up stairs that twist and turn, the finicky friend has some helpful instructions for his pals that is all pivot! Pivot! PIVOT!

5. “A Moo Point” — Joey

Have you ever heard of a moot point? Well, Joey prefers to point out when someone’s making a moo point. Rachel: “A moo point?” Joey: “Yeah. It’s like a cow’s opinion. It just doesn’t matter. It’s moo.” Rachel: “Have I been living with him too long or did that all just make sense?” Well, yeah, it sort of makes sense, kind of. So the next time someone is making a irrelevant statement, try to figure out if they’re making a moot point or a moo point.

4. “Could I BE Anymore…” — Chandler

If you said to someone “could I be anymore…” well then that’s one thing. But if you said to them “could I BE anymore…” well then, you’re definitely a fan of Friends. Chandler Bing was a character that had his own unique signature way of speaking, emphasizing certain words that others might not, but that gave a generation of TV viewers an entirely new way of asking could they BE anymore this or that, something or other.

3. “We Were On a Break” — Ross

When it comes to Rachel and Ross’ never-ending love story on the show, we all remember the little phrase that wouldn’t quit, “WE. WERE. ON. A. BREAK!” Poor Ross. No matter how many times he tries to justify his behavior with the fact that him and Rachel had briefly broken up, he can never get through to her to win her back. We were so sad to see this iconic relationship end, but the scene of them getting back together only to break up again because they can’t agree on whether Ross cheated or not is hilarious!

2. “Oh… My… Gawd!” — Janice

One of the most recognized voices from Friends doesn’t come from one of the six main characters, but instead from a secondary character that became a popular member of the cast who kept making an appearance again and again over the years. Of course, we’re talking about Janice. Chandler’s on-again-off-again lady friend, she had an unmistakable voice and a quirky accent that made her a staple character on the show, we always knew when she was about to enter a scene because she’d say: “Oh…my…GAWD!”

1. “How You Doin’?” — Joey

Friends’ Joey Tribbiani certainly never had any trouble meeting ladies and his go-to line has become a staple for anyone trying to be a little cheeky when flirting (let’s hope no one actually uses it as a genuine pick up line, because yowza). “How you doin’?” has to be said with a certain flair and a particular grin that may take some practice to get just right, but there are plenty of examples of Joey tossing out his signature line throughout the show’s run if you need some references.
