Since its release in 2003, Love Actually has become somewhat of a Christmas classic and is a holiday favorite romantic comedy all these years later. Written and directed by the famous Richard Curtis, the film is also stocked full of big names including Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Keira Knightley and Liam Neeson, to name just a few. It has been circulating for 12 years and is full of stars, this much fans know, but there is so much more to know about the film, including the fact it was never meant to be a Christmas film. 11. Not Even A Christmas Film
As mentioned, Richard Curtis never intended the movie to be a Christmas film, but after starting it and thinking about how much he himself loves Christmas movies, he decided to make his own. “When I first started the movie it wasn’t set at Christmas then I thought I love Christmas movies so I thought I’ll make a Christmas movie, but it didn’t occur to me that it might be one of those Christmas movies where people actually watch it again and again and it’s a delightful surprise to me.”
