In terms of sports celebrity, this New England Patriots quarterback is at his peak. The 38-year-old has been one of the most recognizable players in the NFL for years thanks to his style of play, sportsmanship, and demeanor – not to mention his good looks and marriage to Gisele Bundchen have made him quite popular in the broader world of celebrity as a whole. While he has always been one of the poster-boys for a polite but determined player who lets his abilities on the field do the talking for him, Brady’s squeaky-clean image has been smudged a few times. 5. Personal E-Mail Revelations

Tom Brady is not a trash-talker and is always cordial and polite, win or lose and this demeanor has frustrated both reporters and other players who always try to invoke some reaction out of Brady. While this hasn’t worked, everyone finally got a glimpse of Tom Brady’s “real” life when his personal e-mails were made public during the NFLPA lawsuit for the ‘Deflategate’ investigation. Brady was quickly scrutinized for his treatment of others in the e-mails, specifically when he and his wife were trying to order a new pool cover and they didn’t have the color he wanted, writing, “What kind of morons don’t have white cover. Can we check with another company,” while other outlets reported that the e-mail had quite a bit more profanity in it as well. Then of course, there was the jab he took at his rival but 0ff-field friend Peyton Manning, responding to a report comparing the decline of the two iconic QBs. “Thanks popa, I’ve got another 7 or 8 years. He has 2. That’s the final chapter. Game on.” Many took offense to Brady being catty about his career compared to Manning’s, and shone a new light on how they perceived Brady.

4. The Nanny

Scandal hit scandal when Tom Brady got pulled into the massive ‘nannygate’ issue that hit actor and longtime Patriots fan Ben Affleck following his split from wife Jennifer Garner. Affleck was allegedly having an affair with his children’s nanny Christine Ouzounian and things only got worse when pictures kept surfacing of the two. In one in particular, Ouzounian seems to be living the life of celebrity girlfriend not a nanny when she was pictured aboard a private jet. Along with herself and Affleck, Brady was also a passenger and Ouzounian was wearing all four of his Super Bowl rings, which caused massive outrage. Brady was criticized for carrying his rings around with him in the first place as well as letting an attractive young nanny wear them for photos. “I know my wife would not want the nanny wearing my Super Bowl rings. I have my rings locked up,” former Patriots player Damien Woody stated.

3. Marital Problems With Gisele

Due to the fact he is one of the NFL’s most well-known QBs and married to perhaps the world’s most famous supermodel, Brady and Bundchen’s marriage is watched as closely as every other A-list couple. Brady’s name was once again dragged into headlines as rumors circulated of Tom and Gisele’s marriage hitting a rough patch when it was reported that Gisele had actually consulted a divorce lawyer. Apparently the “Deflategate” controversy had taken its toll on Brady and he became “very nasty and irritable and started acting out on her.” The two have always portrayed the happiest of families but it seems things have been rocky for awhile; however, Tom thinks it was only a “threat.” Meanwhile other sources maintain everything is fine between the two superstars.

2. Deflategate

The “Deflategate” scandal of 2015 has been at the top of media headlines around the world and at the very center is Tom Brady. Following the Patriots AFC Championship game against the Colts, it came to light that the Patriots had used under-inflated footballs which Brady could grip easier. Immediately Brady was accused of ordering the footballs to be inflated underweight and an independent investigation claimed he was “at least aware” of the violation of the rules. Things got worse for Brady after he said he had destroyed the phone he had at the time, which to many made him look even more guilty, even though it was common practice for the star who was previously told he did not need to hand over his phone. Brady appealed his suspension that was handed down as a result of the investigation and always presumed innocence which resulted in his four-game suspension being nullified by the judge of the case. Although the judge found there was no evidence of Brady’s involvement, the entire case has caused many to turn their backs on Brady whose image as one of the most moral players in the game has been tarnished and many more now believe the New England Patriots Super Bowl win was because of cheating.

1. Leaving Bridget Moynahan

Relationships in Hollywood are fast and fleeting and no one can blame the handsome quarterback for hooking up with two of Hollywood’s most desirable women, Bridget Moynahan and Gisele Bundchen, but the way in which he left Bridget has always looked bad. Brady and Coyote Ugly actress Moynahan began dating in 2004 and continued their relationship until December 2006 when they called it quits stating they “amicably ended their three-year relationship.” Right around the same time of the breakup, Brady became seriously involved with Bundchen and, while that looked bad enough, it got worse when Moynahan announced she was more than three-months pregnant with her and Brady’s first child in February. The timing meant that Brady left her around the same time she became pregnant. In July 2008, a year after her son’s birth, Moynahan opened up to Harper’s Bazaar calling it a “traumatic time of being heartbroken and pregnant,” while also saying “it was f–ked up.” “When you’re suddenly pregnant and no one is standing by your side, even if you’re in your 30s, it’s a hard conversation. I’m a traditional girl, and I believe in marriage, and I just always thought that’s the way I’d be doing this. For a moment, it was hard for me to accept that this was the way I was going to have a family.” While it was shady on Brady’s part for leaving, the two have continued to be amicable and share custody of their son, John.
