Cast Of Harry Potter: How Much Are They Worth Now?

Press Association

It has already been six years since the last Harry Potter movie was released and incredible 16 years since the first film made its debut. In casting the lead roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint, film producers and the director picked mostly unknown child actors who rose to international stardom as the stars of the massively famous franchise. Many of the adult actors were well known and only added more notoriety to their resume and more money to their bank accounts, and it is safe to say the lead actors could comfortably retire off the fortune made from the films. While they are not in as many blockbusters, they have continued to act and are constantly adding a bit more padding to a full wallet. Check out how much the cast of Harry Potter are worth now!

13. James and Oliver Phelps

Estimated Net Worth: $1 Million Each. Identical twins James and Oliver Phelps took on the beloved roles of Fred and George Weasley for the entire Harry Potter franchise. The two were 14 years old when they went to audition for the roles even though they had no acting experience and, after about six auditions, they got the part. The two have done a few roles since the end of Harry Potter; both starred in the TV movie Danny and the Human Zoo and in the film Own Worst Enemy. Regardless, they each did not do too bad as the Weasley twins and are worth an estimated $1 million each.

Coltrane was hand-selected by author J.K. Rowling due to his stature and acting ability, all of which has paid off well for the actor who has an estimated net worth of $4 million.

11. Maggie Smith

Over the years she has won two Oscars, three Golden Globes, three Emmys as well as several BAFTA’s and has appeared in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Hook, Sister Act, The Secret Garden, and California Suite. From 2010 to 2015, she held the lead role of Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham, on the hit show Downton Abbey. While there are some discrepancies between how much all of these roles have added to her bank account, her estimated net worth sits at a very comfortable $16 million.

10. Michael Gambon

Estimated Net Worth: $15 Million. Much like Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon got his start in theatre before moving to film and television and becoming a celebrated actor. Gambon took over the role of Professor Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Prisoner Azkaban following the death of Richard Harris in 2002 after he portrayed the iconic character in the first two films. Gambon has also appeared in Sleepy Hollow, Doctor Who, The King’s Speech and has several projects in the works, all of which add up to a very respectable $15 million.

9. Ralph Fiennes

Estimated Net Worth: $30 Million. Actor Ralph Fiennes has an impressive filmography to his name, not just in quantity but also in quality. Apart from starring as the infamous Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise, he is also of course Armon Goeth from Schindler’s List and Count Laszlo de Almasy in The English Patient. His acting abilities vary from thriller to fantasy and even in romantic comedies, starring in 2002’s Maid in Manhattan opposite Jennifer Lopez. He has also continued adding to his fame with his roles in Clash of the Titans, Wrath of the Titans, Skyfall and The Grand Budapest Hotel following his time as Lord Voldemort. With so many big name movies under his belt, it isn’t surprising he is worth around $30 million.

8. Alan Rickman

Estimated Net Worth: $15 Million. Alan Rickman played the part of Professor Severus Snape to perfection for all eight Harry Potter films and, although it is hard to imagine Rickman portraying anyone else, he too had quite the impressive list of acting credits including, as many know, his role as the bad guy in the 1980 iconic action film Die Hard. He was also in the very popular holiday movie Love Actually in which he played the husband of Emma Thompson’s character and she of course played Sybill Trelawney in the Harry Potter films. Rickman also played Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in which he co-starred with Helena Bonham Carter who played Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter franchise. 7. Evanna Lynch

Estimated Net Worth: $4 Million. Evanna Lynch joined the Harry Potter cast later in the franchise when she got the role of the unique and interesting Luna Lovegood in the fifth film of the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Lynch had never acted before getting the role in a process in which she was up against 15,000 other girls; however, she was the perfect choice for the role, garnering favorable reviews from critics for each of her performances and along the way adding an estimated $4 million to her bank account. She has had a few roles since the last film, including playing a role in Danny and the Human Zoo along with James and Oliver Phelps.

6. Bonnie Wright

Estimated Net Worth: $12 Million. At only 26 years old, Bonnie Wright has already created herself quite the net worth thanks to her role as Ginny Weasley, the love of Harry Potter, throughout the entire franchise. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was Wright’s first acting gig and she has gone on to secure quite a few roles both during and after the filming of all eight Harry Potter films. Her $12 million net worth is also helped by the fact she is a well established model appearing on catwalks and in several fashion magazines.

5. Tom Felton

Estimated Net Worth: $35 Million. Tom Felton had appeared in several commercials and films such as Anna and the King and The Borrowers, but he really hit it big when he was cast as Harry Potter’s school rival Draco Malfoy for the Harry Potter series. Although he played a villain, he was still a very well liked actor in the franchise, which won him the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain in both 2010 and 2011. Although the films earned him a huge payday, he continues to add to it with roles in shows and films like Rise of the Planet of the Apes, In Secret, and Against the Sun, adding up to a $35 million net worth.

He has also landed the role of Branwell Bronte, the brother of Emily and Charlotte Bronte for the film The Brontes due out in 2016, all of which has led to an estimated net worth of $10 million.

3. Rupert Grint

Estimated Net Worth: $50 Million. Rupert Grint had never acted before being cast as one of the leads in the Harry Potter films and probably will never have to again thanks to the amount of fame and fortune his turn as Ron Weasley gave him. By 2007 he was one of the Top 20 Earners Under 25 and was making around $4 million a year at the time, only to go on to much bigger paycheques in following years. While he has continued to act in a few roles since his time as Ron Weasley, nothing has been as big as Harry Potter. The good news is he can afford to be picky about his roles considering he is worth an estimated $50 million.

2. Emma Watson

Estimated Net Worth: $70 Million. Emma Watson was only 9 years old when she was cast in the iconic role of Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Watson has added to her fortune by modelling and continued acting with roles in My Week with Marilyn, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, This Is The End, The Bling Ring, Noah and of course she landed the role of Belle in Disney’s live-action version of Beauty and the Beast.

1. Daniel Radcliffe

Estimated Net Worth: $110 Million. It isn’t surprising that being cast as Harry Potter himself has earned Daniel Radcliffe a very large amount of fame and fortune. Radcliffe got the Harry Potter role when he was only 11 and for the last two films he earned $20 and $33 million alone. He has taken on darker and different roles in order to break away from the Harry Potter role that he will forever be attached to and afterwards starred in films such as The Woman In Black, Horns and the play Equus. He currently has many projects in the works, including Young Americans and Victor Frankenstein in which he plays the part of Frankenstein’s assistant Igor which will only add to his outstanding $110 million net worth.
