The release date for the highly anticipated Gilmore Girl Reboot, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, is fast approaching and we know that most fans are eagerly awaiting any details about what is happening in Lorelai and Rory’s life. For those of you who missed any of the big Gilmore Girls’ headlines, we have rounded up everything fans need to know about the upcoming reboot:

15. Who Is Coming Back

Fans can expect to see the three Gilmore women, Lorelai (Lauren Graham), Rory (Alexis Bledel), and Emily (Kelly Bishop), as well as Luke (Scott Patterson) and Lorelai’s ex-husband and baby daddy Christopher (David Sutcliffe). Rory’s ex boyfriends Dean (Jared Padalecki), Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) and Logan (Matt Czuchry) all make appearances and so does her Chilton pal Paris Geller (Liza Weil) and her best friend Lane (Keiko Agena). Other Stars Hollow regulars like Michel (Yanic Truesdale), Miss Patty (Liz Torres), Taylor Doose (Michael Winters), Babette (Sally Struthers) and Kirk (Sean Gunn). Melissa McCarthy, who played Sookie, will also be returning for the reboot, but she might not have that much screen time given that she’s a big Hollywood actress now with other things on the go.

14. Timeline

As all Gilmore Girls’ fans know, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino left the show at the end of season six because of a contract dispute, so she had nothing to do with the show’s seventh and final season and she’s also never seen it. The Netflix reboot is set nine years after Sherman-Palladino left the show in 2006. The events of season seven still happened in this world and she will be exploring storylines that got neglected in her absence.

13. The First Page of the Script

In September 2016, Amy Sherman-Palladino shared page one of the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life script. From the script, we know that Lorelai still lives in Stars Hollow, which is where Rory meets her after getting off a seven-hour flight from who knows where. In Gilmore girls’ fashion, Lorelai cracks a joke about Gwyneth Paltrow.

12. New Characters

Expect a lot of new faces in Stars Hollow! The revival will reportedly feature a Peruvian couple, Lane’s twins, a magazine editor named Jim, a young man named Damon, a 30-something man named Paul, and a guy named Dwayne, who is described as blue collar. Sutton Foster, star of Amy Sherman-Palladino’s Bunheads, will also be appearing along with fellow Bunhead alum Stacey Oristano and Bailey De Young. Christian Borle from Smash, Kerry Butler from Disaster! and Scandal’s Dan Bucatinsky will also make appearances.

11. New Storylines

Michel, played by Yanic Truesdale, will be getting a much bigger storyline this time around and he might have a love interest. “That is nice for me as an actor because it gives me a backstory,” Truesdale said. “But it gives me meat for the character because he, you know, I definitely have an arc and stuff going on in my personal life that affect the character. So the fans can expect to discover more about Michel.”

10. The Banter

During season seven, fans really missed the fast-paced, pop culture-laden conversations between Lorelai and Rory but, for the revival, their trademark banter is back thanks to Amy Sherman-Palladino. Fans can expect lots of witty one-liners and plenty of pop culture references. Sherman Palladino has been saving them up for about nine years now!

9. The Junk Food

During the seven seasons of Gilmore Girls, Lorelai and Rory could always be counted on to gorge on junk food. They loved pop tarts, pizza, Chinese food and mini donuts and the list goes on and on. In this respect, nothing has changed in Lorelai and Rory’s world. They’re eating the same food and they still look good doing it!

8. Rory’s a Vagabond

From the trailer for the reboot, it is clear that Rory has been living a vagabond existence, traveling around the world for what we assume is work. When the show starts, she’s back in Stars Hollow though and it is unclear why. In a conversation with Jess, she remarks that she currently has no job, no credit and “no underwear” but, she also makes a comment that this is the right time in life to be “rootless.”

7. Luke and Lorelai Are Together

At the end of season seven, fans were under the impression that Luke and Lorelai were going to get back together – it was just a matter of when. In the trailer for the reboot, we see that they are back together, but Lorelai doesn’t seem particularly happy with the relationship. This becomes clear when she says, “I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, where I was going, but lately, I don’t know, things seem hazier. We’re happy, Luke and I.” There’s something about the tone she uses when she says that she and Luke are happy that seems unconvincing and makes us think that there may be problems ahead for them.

6. The Gilmore Girls Are Lost

From the trailer it becomes clear that Emily, Lorelai and Rory have all hit a point in life where they feel really lost. Rory talks about not having a job or any direction and Lorelai seems to be searching for her path in life. Emily is especially lost because she’s lost Richard, her husband of 50 years, and she has no idea how to go on without him.

5. Rory’s Love Life

All of Rory’s ex boyfriends – Dean, Jess and Logan – make appearances in the reboot, but we know for sure that she doesn’t end up with Dean. David Sutcliffe – who plays her father, Christopher – let that slip. According to Amy Sherman-Palladino, Rory is single in the reboot, but it sounds like she’s dating. “She’s….single in the sense that she’s not married,” she said. “But she’s dating like any young woman with that face would be.”

4. A Wedding

While taking a tour of Warner Bros. Studios, a fan of Gilmore Girls spotted a sign attached to a prop that indicated there were upcoming nuptials in the reboot. No one is sure exactly who will be getting married on the show but, really, it could be just about anyone!

3. A Baby

On Gilmore Girls’ Official Instagram account, a picture with a cup of coffee, several pop tarts and an apple was posted, which for diehard fans meant that someone – possibly a Gilmore girl – might be with child! During the original series, Lorelai once told Sookie that craving an apple for her meant that she was pregnant.

2. Richard Gilmore’s Death

Since Edward Herrmann – who played Richard – passed away in 2014, viewers are going to see Lorelai, Rory and Emily grappling with his absence. “To me, one of the aspects of the show that felt the same but different, [is] in the wake of losing Ed – which was, and still is, a great loss for us personally – it was also part of our story that we were telling, which was the journey of how everyone is recovering. And that gave the show a depth and emotional complexity, which again to me felt like, ‘Here’s the show grown up even more,’” Lauren Graham said. “And I mention that because it plays into all the choices the characters are making, and sort of what they’re dealing with, in a new way. So through dealing with that, she makes some decisions.”

1. Those Famous Four Final Words

Amy Sherman-Palladino leaving before the seventh and final season meant that she didn’t get to end the show with those final four words. She had a very specific way that she wanted to wrap up the show and exactly what words she would use and she has kept it to herself since leaving at the end of season six. Even Lauren Graham has no idea what those words are but, according to her, both Rory and Lorelai say them.
