Grey’s Anatomy’s Cristina Yang’s Funniest Moments

The loss of characters is unfortunately a common theme on Grey’s Anatomy and, while fans are grateful Cristina Yang didn’t die, there is very obviously something missing from the show without her. Grey’s is dramatic, heavy and emotional but luckily for ten seasons we were provided with the comedic relief of Cristina Yang. Yang wasn’t obviously funny; her sarcasm, dry-wit and brutal honesty is what made her a favorite character on the show, even over McDreamy and Meredith Grey. Whether she was only stating the obvious because it needed to be said, making dark humor in a dark situation, her simple reaction or just the sass and way in which she said things, she had fans loving her and easing through the show’s hardest moments or worst storylines a little better, and made the good moments that much better! Here are Cristina Yang’s 10 funniest moments.

10. On Being Pretty

Cristina: You are eight feet tall. Your boobs are perfect. Your hair is down to there. If I was you I would just walk around naked all the time. I wouldn’t have a job, I wouldn’t have any skills, I wouldn’t even know how to read. I would just be… naked.
Izzie: It’s makeup. It’s retouching.
Cristina: You get that we hate you, right?

8. Spooning..and Knifing

Dr. Parker: So do you like being the little spoon or the big spoon?
Cristina: I’m not a spoon, I’m a knife. And I’m going to stab you in the eyeball.

7. Not Panicking

Meredith: Did you get the page? Lockdown?
Cristina: Yeah, I mean, whatever. It means we can’t leave. I never leave here anyway so what do I care?

6. Her Lack of Interest in Getting Hit on By McDreamy

Mark (McSteamy): So, what’s your deal?
Cristina: I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Mark (McSteamy): I’ve been hitting on you all day.
Cristina: (Laughs) Oh. I…really? Excuse me. (laughs harder).
Mark (McSteamy): It was a stupid idea. It wasn’t even my idea, it was Shepherd’s idea!

4. Put Me In, Coach

One of Cristina’s best moments didn’t even require any lines at all. In the season eight episode, “Put Me In, Coach,” Cristina along with the rest of the Seattle Grace team are put up against Seattle Presbyterian in a baseball game organized by Owen, and naturally, this is not something Cristina is eager to do. Her solution was probably the most relatable to real life as the show got when she decided to hide a flask in her baseball glove to get her through the event.

3. On Sleeping With Your Boss

Meredith: After all this time, all your warnings about me sleeping with my boss and you’re doing the same exact thing.
Cristina: Oh, it’s not the same thing.
Meredith: It’s the exact same!
Cristina: No, it’s not. You and McDreamy are in a relationship.
Meredith: And you and Burke are in?
Cristina: Switzerland. It’s very neutral there and they make very nice watches.

2. On Dying

Cristina: You have a feeling?
Meredith: Yes.
Cristina: Okay, what kind of feeling?
Meredith: Like I might die.
Cristina: Today? Tomorrow? In fifty years? We’re all gonna die eventually. Now we’re late. Let’s go!
Meredith: (Explains her story about Shepherd leaving her) Plus my conditioner decided to stop working and I think I have brittle bones. I just — I just need something to happen. I need a sign that things are going to change. I need a reason to go on. I need some hope! And in the absence of hope, I need to stay in bed and feel like I might die today.
Cristina: Whatever. Everybody has problems. Now get your ass out of bed and get to work. Now! Move, move, move!
