(NEW YORK) — Joan Rivers’ legendarily acidic tongue has burned scores of celebrities over the years, though if the comedienne is to be believed, Twilight star Kristen Stewart is legally biting back. The actress is reportedly fuming over a joke at her expense in Rivers’ latest book, Diary of a Mad Diva, and Stewart allegedly sicced a lawyer on Rivers over the epic burn.
“Many stars only do one thing well,” Rivers wrote. “The best one-trick-pony is Kristen Stewart, who got a whole career by being able to juggle a director’s ba**s” — a reference to Stewart’s affair with her then-married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.
“I’m being sued by Kristen Stewart,” the 81-year-old Rivers revealed to a TMZ cameraman. “Her lawyer contacted my lawyer, which shows the sense of humor she has…My answer to her was, ‘Be glad you’re not a Kardashian because they’re mentioned a lot more in the book.”
Rivers laughed the situation off, saying, “I’m a comedian. I’ve been doing it for 50 years. If people don’t get it, then don’t come and see me…Don’t read the book. If you’re gonna take it seriously, you’re a fool.”
The latter point was actually written by Rivers in the prologue of the book that comes out next month — and was apparently echoed by her legal team to Stewart’s camp.
