9. New Character Alert

Adam Newman is up to no good, and it looks like he’ll soon have outside help! Actor Aaron Schwartz, who has appeared in many prime time roles (such as S.W.A.T. and Gossip Girl) will debut on Y&R in the role of Lucas over the coming days. According to Soap Opera Digest, Lucas will be helping Adam gather evidence against Victor. So, keep an eye out as the new character will touch down on August 24th and 25th.

8. Is Y&R Glossing Over Chelsea’s Crime?

As Chelsea gets closer to rekindling some flames with her ex, Billy, many Y&R fans are crying foul over the show’s refusal to address the couple’s disturbing past. New viewers may not realize that Chelsea drugged and assaulted Billy, which resulted in their child, Johnny. Many onlookers think the soap is trying to gloss over Chelsea’s actions, while one intrepid fan revealed a series of clips to hold the show accountable. Other fans have suggested that it’s pointless to focus on Chelsea’s crime when so many characters have moved on from similar misdeeds.

7. Two Decades For Christel Khalil

Christel Khalil has just marked 20 years of playing Lily Winters on Y&R! To mark the event, cast and crew celebrated the actress with a party, speeches and even gluten-free cupcakes with her face on them! “It was all so fast-paced, and I wasn’t used to that,” she shared with Soaps.com about her first scenes back in 2002. “But I was stepping into this family that was, both on-screen and off, wonderful and supportive. It made everything so much easier.”

6. Melissa Claire Egan Marks Year One

Speaking of anniversaries, Melissa Claire Egan is celebrating a very different sort: her son’s first birthday! “You are such a gift from God and a miracle and we love you so much!!!” Egan wrote on Instagram to her son, Caden. “You are the happiest little boy, you love peaches and blueberries, and already have the best sense of humor.” Despite their unconditional love, it sounds like Egan’s husband, Matt Katrosar, sees a little room for improvement. “Dad really wants you to be a lefty but no pressure,” Egan joked.

5. Is Amanda Leaving Y&R?

Speculation has been mounting that Mishael Morgan (Amanda) could be leaving the hit CBS soap. Fans began to grumble when they noticed that Morgan’s name was omitted from the credits of recent episodes. Current Y&R storylines are making the situation even more distressing. As Devon and Elena begin to bond over Nate’s career crisis, Amanda has left Genoa City altogether to care for her mother. Let’s hope Amanda lands herself a storyline or secures her romance soon; otherwise it could be a sign that her Y&R contract is ending!

4. Elena On Imani

The uncertainty around Morgan’s character can also be blamed on the chemistry between Devon and Elena, which is sort of cheating since the two are dating in real life! When chatting about her love triangle with Nate and Imani (or love square if we’re rushing to include Devon…), Brytni Sarpy revealed that her rivalry with Imani couldn’t be further from reality. “Leigh-Ann is just the sweetest thing ever,” Sarpy told Soap Central. “Our relationship couldn’t be more different than Elena and Imani’s. She’s a complete sweetheart.”

3. Leigh-Ann Rose Recast

Speaking of Sarpy’s on-screen nemesis, viewers were disillusioned to learn that the role of Imani is being recast with Denise Boutte. But Y&R viewers should consider themselves lucky; not only are they getting an early look at Boutte, who has many projects on the horizon, but this different version of Imani is temporary. The original Imani, Leigh-Ann Rose, will reprise the role after dealing with a scheduling conflict.

2. Zuleyka Silver Joins The Cast

Actress and model Zuleyka Silver will introduce a new character, Audra Charles, to the Y&R canvas in September. At present, all we can gather about the role is that Charles will be “lured to town by one of Genoa City’s business icons”. Well, that’s an increasingly crowded field! “I can finally share the great news!!!” Silver exclaimed on Instagram. “So excited and grateful to join the cast of The Young and the Restless (excuse me WHAT?!!!)” So which Genoa City business will be responsible for bringing this new high-powered executive to town? Could she be replacing Billy or Nate at Chancellor-Winters?

1. Susan Walters Introduces Grandchild

Most Y&R viewers are giving Diane the side-eye when she’s interacting with Harrison; after all, she could be merely using her grandchild to get cozy with Jack and Kyle. Luckily, there are no ulterior motives to portrayer Susan Walters’ actual grandchild, who just arrived! “Nora and grandma,” Walters wrote in the caption of an Instagram post revealing the birth. Cast-mates Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) and Melissa Ordway (Abby) lent some loving support in the comments.
