Fame10 Fashion Evolution: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift’s fashion has really evolved since she first achieved fame as a young country artist. Back then, she didn’t have a whole lot of style. She would rock dresses with cowboy boots at events, which didn’t exactly translate to Hollywood red carpet royalty! However, as of late, she has finally started to develop an eye for fashion. She’s thrown out the cowboy boots and appears to have hired a stylist. These days, she is almost always on every best dressed lists thanks to her chic new sense of style. Now that Swift is a bona fide fashionista, come with us as we take a look at her fashion evolution!

American Music Awards – 2007

Taylor Swift showed up at the American Music Awards wearing a little black halter dress by Catherine Malandrino with black cowboy boots. It is a very “country” ensemble, which is totally appropriate given that she was pursuing a career in country music at that point. Having said that, we aren’t huge fans of the look. The cowboy boots are definitely something that she should always leave at home and never pair with a cute little dress like that.

43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards – 2008

The aspiring country singer looked lovely at the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in this strapless Marchesa gown. While we think she looks really pretty in this dress, we can’t help but feel that it looks more like something adolescents wear to their high school prom. It is a definite step up from the little black dress and cowboy boots, but we want to see her wear dresses that are more chic.

Premiere of Hannah Montana The Movie – 2009

Taylor Swift rocked a black beaded strapless Naeem Khan Fall 2009 dress at the premiere of “Hannah Montana The Movie” and accessorized with Christian Louboutin Bow T Dorcet heels and a black Mary Norton clutch – a vast improvement over her other looks! This dress is far more age and event appropriate. Swift only makes a brief cameo in the film; however, her outfit ended up being the highlight of the premiere.

Pre-Grammy Gala – 2010

The singer/actress clearly has a thing for sparkly dresses! She donned this Colette Dinnigan mini-dress, Christian Louboutin peep-toe heels, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a Swarovski clutch at the Pre-Grammy Gala in 2010. This dress looks gorgeous on her and is a bit reminiscent of something from the flapper era. Taylor Swift was spotted getting cozy with Cory Monteith at the event and was also seen having dinner with him a few days before the Grammys.

American Music Awards – 2011

Taylor Swift rocked another glittery gown at the American Music Awards in 2011. She wore this gold sequined Reem Acra gown and accessorized with emerald earrings. It was a good night for the young country artist. She took home three awards in total, one for Artist of the Year, Favorite Country Female Artist and Favorite Country Album. Our little Swift has become a bona fide country star. It’s too bad that, in a few years time, she would ditch country altogether for pop.

40th American Music Awards – 2012

The country music sensation attended the 40th American Music Awards in this long-sleeved beaded mini-dress by Zuhair Murad with Jimmy Choo heels. The dress looks great on Taylor and really highlights her long legs. We are noticing a certain trend though – she sports a lot of sparkly dresses in neutral colors. Her sense of style is becoming slightly predictable, which isn’t exactly a good thing for stars on the red carpet.

Brit Awards – 2013

Taylor Swift switched things up at the 2013 Brit Awards. Instead of sporting something short and sparkly, she donned this long, black sleeveless Elie Saab gown, which featured sheer panels in the skirt and a gold belt. This look is definitely edgier than anything we’ve seen her in so far. The only real problem we have is with those awful bangs. Not many people can rock blunt bangs and, with Swift’s delicate features, she certainly isn’t one of them.

Billboard Music Awards – 2013

The singer-songwriter went back to sequins for the Billboard Music Awards in 2013. She wore this bluish-purple mini-dress by Zuhair Murad and strappy Jimmy Choo ‘Suki’ sandals. The sheer illusion panels on the front and back definitely make the dress far edgier than many of her other ensembles. Again, the only thing we see wrong with this look are those bangs. They definitely change the entire feel of the outfit – and not for the better.

Teen Choice Awards – 2014

Taylor Swift was on every best dressed list thanks to this lime green crop top and matching skirt by Novis and the yellow Charlotte Olympia heels she wore to the Teen Choice Awards. The outfit is pretty cutesy; however, it is slightly edgy because it shows some skin around her waist. At this event, she finally styled her bangs differently. We definitely would prefer if she would just grow them out – she’d look so much prettier.

iHeartRadio Music Festival – 2014

The country singer turned pop star looked absolutely gorgeous at the iHeartRadio Music Festival. She wore this white strapless bandeau top with a red pencil skirt, both by Calvin Klein. We really love how much Taylor Swift’s fashion has changed over the years. She has gone from little black dresses with cowboy boots to sequined mini-dresses to crop tops and skirts. We really hope she keeps going on this stylish streak!
