21. Best: Pippa Middleton at Meghan Markle Wedding

Pippa Middleton is clearly the queen of styling a wedding guest look based on her track record from 2018! We absolutely loved her choice of attire for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding this year. The combination of mint green and blush pink was unexpected, but fabulous, especially with the floral detailing and feminine pleats.

20. Worst: Kate Middleton in October

Following her maternity leave, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in October heading full force back into her public engagements and appearances. Her look, however, was disappointing for many. We love to see Kate in a casual look, but this outfit didn’t seem well thought out. Our main issue with this outfit is the fact that she wore a green jacket on top of green pants that were different shades and completely clashed.

19. Best: Kate Middleton at Princess Eugenie’s Wedding

Kate Middleton is known for her crowd-pleasing wedding guest looks, and she struck again this year when she attended Princess Eugenie’s wedding wearing this regal magenta number that was both glamorous and appropriate. It was detailed in all the right places and featured a dramatic draped detail along the hip, flattering long sleeves and ruching along the neckline.

18. Worst: Meghan Markle in Australia

We’re not opposed to when Royals dress casually by any means, but Meghan Markle doesn’t seem to have mastered what style of denim works for her just yet based on her Australian tour. These black jeans simply fit her too loose and ended up looking slouchy and messy, especially when tucked into boots like this. We aren’t against denim, but it’s definitely key to ensure a perfect fit beforehand!

17. Best: Queen Elizabeth in Lime

Queen Elizabeth is known for her rainbow-colored wardrobe and she had quite a few memorable bright outfits this year! Our favorite look of hers, however, was this lime green outfit she wore to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The specific shade of green definitely made her stand out and the contrast pop of royal purple on her hat was the perfect regal finishing touch.

16. Worst: Kate Middleton’s Wedding Guest Look

One of Kate Middleton’s most controversial looks of 2018 was actually the outfit she wore to her sister-in-law-to-be Meghan Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry! Many were stunned that Kate would opt for a white dress when its common knowledge that one should never wear white as a guest to a wedding. While rumors swirled about the controversial fashion decision, some argued that the look was actually a soft yellow and that many of the cameras washed it out to look white.

15. Best: Kate Middleton at Buckingham Palace

Kate Middleton recently stepped out for an evening reception at Buckingham Palace looking every bit a snow Princess! Her glittering look featured sheer cap sleeves, sparkling beading and she even topped the look with the Lover’s Knot crown. The dazzling look was exactly how we imagine a Princess to dress, which made this undeniably one of Kate’s best looks of the year.

14. Worst: Kate Middleton in Sweden

One of Kate’s most criticized looks of the year was this satin mustard-colored dress she wore in January. The look had quite a bit going on from the statement-making color scheme, high-neckline, long sleeves, satin texture and ruffle detailing. With the combination of the heavy material and print, we simply think this look seemed to distract from Kate’s natural beauty rather than complement it.

13. Best: Kate Middleton showing Prince Louis

One of Kate’s loveliest looks of the year was the stunning cherry red dress she wore at Lindo Wing to present Prince Louis to the world. The eye-catching shift dress was the perfect post-baby look that complemented her rosy glow and was inspired by a look worn by Princess Diana to present Prince Harry. The nostalgia factor was too adorable to ignore!

12. Worst: Meghan Markle in Australia

While we’re actually really big fans of this striped Reformation dress Meghan wore in Australia, we have to admit it didn’t seem like the best option for a Royal figure. The super thigh-high slit was better suited for her California days than something appropriate to wear as a Duchess! We can definitely imagine that the Queen had a problem with this risky look.

11. Best: Pippa Middleton’s Wedding Guest Outfit

Pippa Middleton was glowing in green when she stepped out at Princess Eugenie’s wedding just days before she gave birth! The emerald look was the perfect color choice for Pippa’s olive complexion and chocolate tresses. We love that this outfit was totally glamorous while still remaining simple with solid colors and a classic shape.

10. Worst: Kate Middleton’s Blazer Look

Another one of Kate Middleton’s less impressive looks from this year had to be this all-black look she paired with a checked blazer and booties. The simple yet polished look would have been fine if it wasn’t for one minor detail — her stomach was showing! We’re pretty convinced this wardrobe faux-pas wouldn’t fly with the Queen. We also wish that since the denim look is so casual that she had opted for a more refined looking stiletto than the suede booties.

9. Best: Meghan Markle in Yellow

One of Meghan Markle’s boldest and best royal looks this year was the sophisticated yellow dress she wore for a Commonwealth event in London. Previously, she had stuck to a relatively neutral wardrobe palette filled with blacks, blush pinks and nudes, so the bright canary yellow gown was a lovely surprise. Aside from the color, the midi dress also fit her body perfectly and featured an elegant bateau neckline which has seemingly become her signature.

8. Worst: Meghan Markle’s Tassel Dress

For their second day in Fiji, Meghan and Harry both stepped out wearing flowery, boho numbers. While it’s rare to see Markle in a print, we can’t say this is one of our favorite styles on her from the year! The shape of the dress itself isn’t too bad, but the bold print in combination with the pom-pom detailing at the waist came across as a little tacky.

7. Best: Meghan Markle Wedding Dress

We couldn’t have a Royal family style roundup without mentioning Meghan Markle’s highly anticipated wedding dress! There were many mixed reviews when the regal Givenchy wedding dress was revealed, but when it comes down to it, the dress rang very true to her style. She favors pieces that are quite low maintenance and simple, which is why a sleek long sleeve dress with a subtle boat neck collar was the perfect choice for her fairytale day.

6. Worst: Meghan Markle Sheer Skirt

Meghan Markle turned quite a few heads in one of her last appearances of the tour in New Zealand where she wore a royal blue sweater and skirt combo. While we love the pleated midi skirt and the contrasting pops of light blue, we’re not sure that Markle realized the skirt was completely sheer in the daylight! The look bared all from the waist down and we’re quite certain the Queen would not have been a fan of a look this revealing on a Duchess.

5. Best: Meghan Oscar De La Renta

One of Meghan’s most memorable looks from the entire Royal Australian tour was this swoon-worthy Oscar De La Renta dress she wore to the Australian Geographic Society Awards at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney. The dress was a true Princess fairytale moment with the voluminous tulle skirt and intricate detail. We especially love the unique floating neckline of this look!

4. Worst: Kate Middleton Crinkle Dress

Many dubbed this powder blue Alexander McQueen worn by the Duchess of Cambridge in October one of her worst looks of all time! While we believe the criticism is definitely quite harsh, we do see where they’re coming from. The crinkled texture of the dress looked like something straight out of an ’80s fashion magazine and we would have much preferred to see Kate in something more modern like satin or velvet.

3. Best: Princess Eugenie’s Wedding Dress

Of all the royal looks we saw in 2018, one of our absolute favorites was the breathtaking wedding dress worn by Princess Eugenie when she married longtime boyfriend Jack Brooksbank. Her royal wedding look was designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos which featured a slight off-the-shoulder neckline and a Princess-style shape. We especially love the fact that Eugenie designed the dress to have a low back and show off a surgery scar on her back as a move of empowerment.

2. Worst: Meghan Markle Tag Debacle

This cherry red look worn by Meghan Markle in Tonga would have perhaps been one of our favorites looks of hers from the entire Australian tour, but one tiny detail swayed us otherwise — she left the tag on her dress! This is one of the biggest fashion faux pas, especially for a public figure or royal. As much as we love this striking red number, we have to call it one of her worst looks because of the distracting tag trailing around her ankles at the hemline.

1. Best: Meghan Markle’s Wedding Reception Dress

Of all of the swoon-worthy royal fashion moments in 2018, the all-time favorite has got to be the sleek white dress Meghan Markle changed into following her civil wedding ceremony! Again, the look was quite simple, but the halter neckline and sleek shape really brought the glamour factor. The dress fit her like a glove and opting to pull her hair back to show off the neckline was the perfect touch.
