Although it has been over two years since Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt split and began a nasty divorce and custody battle that has played out very publicly, the two are not any closer to reaching an agreement or being amicable when speaking about one another.

Wednesday, August 8, saw a back-to-back court filing from Jolie and Pitt after Jolie submitted new court documents through her lawyer that suggested Pitt had not made any “meaningful” child support payments for the couple’s minor children since their 2016 split. In turn Pitt submitted his own filings to the court and called Jolie’s filing an “effort to manipulate the media.”

Now, Jolie and her lawyer Samantha Bley DeJean are firing back at Pitt once again, saying, “What has been filed by Brad’s side today is a blatant attempt to obfuscate the truth and distract from the fact that he has not fully met his legal obligations to support the children.”

In Pitt’s filing he responded to Jolie’s accusations about child support stating that he had paid over $1.3 million to help pay bills for Jolie and their children and also loaned her $8 million to purchase her new home.

“Following the incident of September 2016, Angelina and the children needed to move from the family home, which Brad chose to keep, including all of its contents,” she said.

Bley DeJean also claimed the actor was “asked to assist in the expense of a new home for Angelina” and their six children but “instead he loaned Angelina money, for which he is charging her interest on a payment plan.”

She continued that while the actress will “honor the loan,” it is important to note that “A loan is not, however, child support to represent it as such is misleading and accurate.” “Angelina has had to shoulder the majority of those without his contribution for the past two years,” Bley DeJean said. “Child support is not optional in California.”

“Typically a father of means would pay these expenses voluntarily without the need for a request or court order. We are hopeful that this can be resolved without further delay or posturing,” she continued.

The two stars met in 2003 and were together for a decade before finally marring in 2014 before they separated in Sept. 2016 citing irreconcilable differences after which the nasty battle began. Custody of their six children — Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox — has been an ongoing issue.
