Chris Hemsworth shared a post to Instagram slamming a story published by The Daily Mail by the actor and his family. Since September 2019, Australia has been facing bush fires and drought, causing water prices to triple in the country.

The publication claimed that Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky hired “a fleet of water trucks” to water their “$1 million garden” at their $20 million home during the drought crisis in Australia.

The actor shared a screenshot to Instagram of the story’s allegations with the word “lies” written over it to his 38.8 million followers. Hemsworth typically responds to rumors or media reports with wit.

The actor began his post with, “This is a complete lie. Normally I wouldn’t respond to false articles like this but it bothers me a lot.”

He continued, “The water truck was purely for drinking water because like everyone in the region who is not connected to town water we have run out of potable water due to the drought.”

“NONE of my garden is fed by drinking water. Thanks for your concern #dailymail and thanks for adding more distress to an already brutal situation the whole country is dealing with. Merry Xmas,” Hemsworth concluded his post.

Since the actor’s response to the allegations, the outlet has since published a new article which includes his side of the story.

The couple’s new home in the hills above Seven Mile Beach was finished earlier in the year, and it is estimated to have cost about $20 million to complete. The home includes six bedrooms, a rooftop pool, a steam room, a gym, and outdoor living areas. The house is also powered by dozens of rooftop solar panels.
