Former Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) actor James Lastovic has been found safe, nearly two days after he and a roommate disappeared while hiking in Hawaii.
The actor, who portrayed Joey Johnson on DOOL from 2015 to 2020, was vacationing in Kauai with his roommate, Nevin Dizdari, when the missing persons report was filed.
The alarm was raised when, according to Lastovic’s mother, Lucienne, the two were scheduled to return to Los Angeles on Monday, but failed to arrive. She shared a frantic notice on Instagram shortly after.

Upon further investigation, neither Lastovic nor Dizdari had been heard from since 1:30 pm Hawaii time on Sunday, after they’d texted their hostess at the Hanalei Bay Resort. The pair had been seeking directions to a cliff diving area at Shipwreck Beach.
However, the actor and his roommate never made it back to the resort on Sunday night. Local police took possession of the pairs’ belongings, which were still at the resort, and the Kauai Police Department turned the case over to their detectives division.
Thankfully, late on Tuesday, October 11th, Lastovic and Dizdari were revealed to be safe and back in touch with loved ones. “My sister and James are okay,” Dizdari’s sister, Emma, wrote on her Instagram stories. “They got lost on their hike but made it back to their car.”
Fellow soap opera stars showed their concern throughout the ordeal. General Hospital star Kirsten Storms reached out to former co-star Ingo Rademacher, who has a lot of contacts in Hawaii.
DOOL star Martha Madison later announced her relief at the news on social media. “Hallelujah! He’s been found,” she tweeted.
