Joe Simpson, the father of stars Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer multiple sources have confirmed.

According to reports from People, he was initially diagnosed two months ago and in that time has undergone prostate surgery and is already on his way back to work and is also “eating healthier.”

Joe Simpson now works as a photographer and his latest job as him heading to Japan to shoot the cover of Nation-Alist magazine and also shoot for some campaigns. “He’s feeling great now and is optimistic. He’s felt so much love and support from his family and friends,” a source close to Simpson told the publication.

Previously, Joe Simpson was known for being the dad/manager of his daughters, and having some strange comments about Jessica, but after opening Dreams Work, which was his first photography exhibit in L.A., he revealed his true passion has always been behind the camera. “There is something about taking pictures that makes me happy, and it has always been a hobby for me.” He added,  “With my camera, it’s just me and my art. So it’s been, like, life-changing. And then, at 40, I became Jessica Simpson’s father, and Ashlee Simpson’s father. … And photography for me allows me to be just Joe Simpson again. I’m not riding the shirttails of my children; I’m not making money off my children. It’s just me, doing my art.”
