Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) producer Ken Corday wants to set the record straight — and blast some critics while he’s at it.

When the announcement was made to move the NBC soap from network television to a streaming site, panic ensued. One of the show’s directors pleaded with fans to subscribe to Peacock, while viewers responded with pointed questions and harsh criticisms.

In the newest issue of Soap Opera Digest, Corday directly addressed what the immediate future holds for the soap opera and its fans.

“For starters, it’s the same show,” Corday said. “You will probably be getting more show content after February of the next year because we don’t have to limit the show to 38 minutes with 22 minutes of commercial time.”

The reason DOOL will expand after next February is because the soap has already taped up until that time. Speaking of commercials, Corday revealed more details on that front.

“On Peacock, with the lower subscription, you get four minutes of commercial time, and with the higher subscription, you get no commercial time,” Corday explained.

“Also, the broadcast quality on streaming is better than network broadcast from transmitters,” the producer added.

The show’s storylines will also get tweaked to encourage a younger audience.

“Come spring, we will be able to say and do things that are a bit more titillating than on broadcast,” Corday hinted. “It’s still Days Of Our Lives, but it’s not your mother’s Days Of Our Lives.”

As for the criticisms that DOOL won’t stand a chance on Peacock and this move could foreshadow the soap’s outright cancellation, Corday didn’t mince words.

“It’s funny to see how all the bottom feeders grabbed it and went, ‘Days is canceled. Next,’” Corday sounded off. “It never ceases to amaze me how, you know, ‘If it bleeds, it leads,’ and let’s say the worst things we can say about it, right?”

“This is not the end of an era; it’s the beginning of another era,” Corday continued. “This is the best part of the job for me, these exciting, pioneering times, making changes like this and trying to keep everything positive.”

DOOL will be seen exclusively on Peacock as of September 12th.
