The Voice has officially crowned its season 19 winner.
Congratulations, Carter Rubin! The 15-year-old from Shoreham, New York is this season’s winner of The Voice. The win marked a tie with past winner Brynn Cartelli as the show’s youngest champion to date.
Rubin’s victory also marks the first-win for coach Gwen Stefani. “You won The Voice!” Stefani repeated excitedly to Rubin as he looked in disbelief. After Rubin won, Stefani asked him, “What were you thinking right when they were about to stay the winner?”
Rubin replied, “I just… If I had any reason to win, it was for her,” as he pointed at Stefani, to which she replied, “What!” Rubin continued, “Yes, because she’s such an excellent coach.”

Earlier in the night, Stefani and Carter performed a duet to Stefani’s holiday single “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.” Rubin also performed his original song “Up From Here” to which Stefani praised him. “I’m just so proud of you.” she said. “To be 15 years old and so incredibly calm and cool and in the moment, I’m so proud of you … I can’t wait to see what happens after this show.”
Rubin has shared previously that his singing inspiration is his grandfather, who was a guitarist and backup vocalist for Jay and the Americans. He also shared that he loves playing music with his brother Jack, who is on the autism spectrum. “My brother, Jack, and a lot of people on the autism spectrum see things a little differently than many of us,” he said during the Dec. 7 show.
“And I don’t think that’s a bad thing. In fact, it’s a quite beautiful thing, and I think if we all took a second and tried to see the world through their eyes, we’d all be kinder, we’d be more patient, and we’d be more accepting.”
