A surprising number of celebrities have faced evictions or foreclosures. While some of them were able to narrowly avoid these situations, others weren’t so lucky – or savvy. We find it hard to believe that celebrities even find themselves in these situations. They make more money in one year than many of us will see in a lifetime, but somehow they can’t seem to manage it well enough to hold onto their homes. We decided to take a look at celebrities who faced evictions and foreclosures and lost. Here it is – our list of 7 unlucky celebrities who lost their homes!
7. R. Kelly
R. Kelly’s Illinois mansion was auctioned off last year for only $950,000. This was way less than the $3.5 million mortgage he took out to build the place back in 1997. In 2011, the bank tried to foreclose, claiming that he hadn’t made mortgage payments on the 20,000 square foot home for over a year. Kelly tried to sell it for $1.6 million to block foreclosure, but there were no offers. The house featured six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, an indoor pool, a theatre and private lake.
