9 Movie Duos Who Can’t Stop Working Together

There’s something so comforting about watching two people come together on screen who were cast perfectly and have such great chemistry that you can’t seem to take your eyes off them. What’s even sweeter? Being able to sit back and watch a pair, whether it be romantic or otherwise, star in multiple movies together where you genuinely can’t help but smile when you watch them because, if there’s one thing everyone can appreciate, it’s real human connection that feels tangible and electric.

9. Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg

There’s nothing that the world loves more lately than two “awkward” people playing love interests in a movie. We love that between Twilight films Kristen came together with Jesse (pre-Social Network fame) to make the coming-of-age flick Adventureland. They caught up with each other again this summer for American Ultra where they both have great hair and lots going on beneath the surface. Currently they are on set filming love scenes for Woody Allen’s latest film due to come out next year.

8. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling

These two stars are amongst Hollywood’s favorites as far as young and talented actors are concerned. In 2011, we first caught a glimpse of their undeniable chemistry in the quirky comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love. And in 2013 we got to see Emma play the beautiful damsel-in-distress to Ryan’s protective undercover cop in Gangster Squad. They’re currently on set in Los Angeles filming Damien Chazelle’s follow-up to last year’s hit Whiplash titled La La Land. Word on the street is that it’s a musical romance and we literally cannot wait.

7. Richard Gere and Diane Lane

Sometimes two actors exist and you simply want to watch them be hot together on screen! Such was the case for Richard Gere and Diane Lane in 2002’s erotic thriller Unfaithful that featured Diane Lane getting it on with a young Olivier Martinez. And in 2008’s Nicholas Sparks adaptation Nights in Rodanthe, we were perfectly charmed to watch them tragically fall in love at an off the charts gorgeous beach house.

6. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey

It definitely took the world a little while to notice, but guess what ladies and gents – women are funny! And when you take two hysterical women like Amy Poehler and Tina Fey who were a match made in heaven on Saturday Night Live, and put them in a film, you have pure greatness. Baby Mama was a classic and this winter’s upcoming Sisters looks like a work of pure comedic genius.

5. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper

With the trailer for the David O’Russell’s Joy dropping last week, we couldn’t help but think of the film that helped us to fall head over heels in love with JLaw and B. Cooper in the first place, which was 2012’s Oscar contender Silver Linings Playbook. Not only did we love how this film portrayed one’s struggle with mental illness, but the chemistry (and dancing) between these two was electric. We saw them together again in O’Russell’s follow-up American Hustle, and even though the critics tore last year’s depression-era romance Serena to shreds, we have to say the best thing about that film was casting these two.

4. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks

You might say that Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks were some of the original acting pairs that really got us ladies talking. The longing and romance hit us pretty hard in everyone’s favorite Sleepless in Seattle. And five years later they went all techno savvy on us in 1998’s You’ve Got Mail, which featured them as rivalling book store owners by day and two lonely souls who found love with one another over the internet by night. How ahead of its time was this movie?

3. Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey

Is there anything cuter than two really attractive blondes having no idea how they feel about each other only to come to realize their true deep feelings? Such was the case in 2003’s How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days where we found ourselves totally charmed with the clever premise (he’s trying to win a big business deal while Kate’s character is trying to write a solid story). To follow-up, they also starred in Fool’s Gold a few years later. Not as strong as their first foray, but we did enjoy seeing them together (and fighting) again.

2. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore

First off, on their own – is there anyone out there cuter than Drew Barrymore? Okay, now that we all agree on that point, put her with the heartbroken and vulnerable Adam Sandler in The Wedding Singer and you’ve got yourself one of the sweetest romantic comedies of the ’90s. Jump ahead a few years and they hooked up again for 50 First Dates, which was surprisingly moving (and funny) for a comedy about a commitment phobe falling in love with a woman who suffers from short term memory loss. Last year’s family comedy Blended didn’t quite deliver as much as their first two movies together, but at least we got to see them together on-screen again!

1. Seth Rogen and James Franco
Don’t we all love a good bromance, and none fill that quota quite like Seth Rogen and James Franco. We first fell in love with them in everyone’s favorite stoner action comedy Pineapple Express. Next, they played themselves (and brought along a bunch of their fun friends) in 2013’s apocalyptic comedy This Is The End. And who could forget last year’s very controversial The Interview.
