8. Steve Burton Returns To Daytime Drama

Speaking of Jason, portrayer Steve Burton has landed his first role since being fired from GH in the fall of 2021. Burton will star in the second series of Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, which is set to air on Peacock this summer! The gig will be a homecoming for Burton, who started his soap opera career with Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) back in 1988. Will his time on this mini-series pave the way for a more permanent role on DOOL? Or can he eventually return to GH? The future of Jason Morgan remains very uncertain.

7. Like Father Like Son

Maurice Benard (Sonny) is one proud papa! On his May 1st episode of State Of Mind, he shared that his son, Joshua, will return to GH this month. The young actor will reprise the role of Adam, a sketchy classmate of Josslyn’s (played by Eden McCoy), over the coming weeks — but that isn’t all! “He has an HBO project airing this summer and he’ll be releasing his first single soon,” the elder Benard shared. Looks like Josh’s singing chops aren’t just a hobby!

6. Laura And Wes Share The Love

Carly Corinthos isn’t feeling especially lovey dovey these days, but that’s okay – because portrayer Laura Wright has enough of that behind the scenes! On April 28th, Wright shared an image of herself with beau (and former GH bad guy) Wes Ramsey to celebrate five years since their first date. “Five years ago today you took my breath away,” she wrote in the caption. “I love our life, Wes Ramsey.” The former Peter August replied to her post, saying “Love you, Laura.”

5. Alexis Is Back!

Alexis Davis portrayer Nancy Lee Grahn took to social media to share that she’s back at work following her surgery. “Today was the first day I was back at General Hospital,” she said on Instagram. “Really fun. It was, I think, the longest I have been off of work since I’ve worked in daytime.” Grahn also thanked the temporary recast who filled in for her. “Thank you, Stephanie Erb, very much for filling in for me. It’s much appreciated.”

4. And So Is Martin!

This week will also see the return of Martin Grey, as Michael E. Knight reprises the role. In the latest issue of SOD (as per Michael Fairman TV), co-head writer Dan O’Connor sets the scene like this: “Martin returns to Port Charles, and he must choose between his friendship with Valentin and his budding relationship with Lucy.” Co-head writer Chris Van Etten then chimed in, adding, “Or you could say, choose between love and money!” Glad to see Martin and Lucy getting a storyline of their own!

3. Will Maurice Benard Retire?

With the new hiring and cast returns, it saddens us to bring the tone down with the news that Maurice Benard is contemplating retiring. However, he put it very plainly on a recent episode of State of Mind acting just doesn’t satisfy him the way it did in his younger years. “Acting… I don’t know when, but soon enough, I’ll be done with,” Benard revealed. “Sorry. I hate to say that, but it’s the truth.” So let’s enjoy Sonny while we can!

2. Vanessa Marcil Gets Called Out

Speaking of Benard, he recently asked viewers of his State of Mind YouTube show to reach out to GH alum Vanessa Marcil. Why? Because he wants her to guest on an upcoming episode of his mental health interview series. “I love Vanessa a lot,” Benard stated. “I truly think – and I think you guys should write to her, too – that she’s scared.” Will calling Marcil a chicken convince her to face off against her former co-star? It can’t hurt!

1. Could Leslie Charleson Retire As Well?

Fresh speculation about Leslie Charleson’s future on the ABC soap has been suggesting that the veteran, 77, could be eyeing retirement. As Charleson approaches her 45th anniversary on GH, the National Enquirer reports that she’s “planning to announce her retirement to coincide with the milestone”. Despite the questionable source, Charleson did allow for her character to be temporarily recast in March and no explanation was given for her absence. Only time will tell if she’s ready to call it a day!
