Fame10 Fashion Evolution: Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel has never been known for having an amazing sense of style. On the red carpet, she seems to struggle. Many of her outfits don’t seem quite right and she just doesn’t seem to have the same level of interest in fashion as other stars. We aren’t quite sure what goes through her mind when she picks out her outfits, but the passion for looking good just doesn’t seem to be there. Don’t get us wrong, Biel has definitely had moments where she looks really great; however, they are few and far between. We decided to go create a slideshow of her red carpet moments to determine once and for all whether Biel is stylish or just average.

Billboard Music Awards – 2002

Jessica Biel donned a purple dress with black heels and a black clutch at the Billboard Music Awards. Given how fabulous her body is, we don’t think this dress does her any justice. The fit isn’t especially flattering on her figure and neither is the color. The relatively unknown actress wasn’t especially busy at this point in her career. While she was still involved with the TV show “Seventh Heaven,” she only had one film role that year, “The Rules of Attraction.”

Premiere of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – 2003

The “Seventh Heaven” actress wore a silver cocktail dress that was cinched at the waist with matching heels and a blue clutch to the premiere of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” Needless to say, the dress wasn’t a success. The top part is really unflattering because it billows out in a really odd way. With Jessica Biel’s figure, the only way that this would have looked good is if the entire dress had been tight – not just the waist.

Premiere of Cellular – 2004

Jessica Biel wore a blue and white, form-fitting dress with some fringe to the premiere of “Cellular.” She accessorized with a white clutch and white heels. We really like how this dress flatters Biel’s incredibly toned physique; however, we don’t find the dress itself to be particularly attractive. Even though Biel had dropped out of college and was pursuing an acting career full-time at this point, she still hadn’t landed her breakthrough role.

Premiere of Elizabethtown – 2005

The athletic actress wore a grey, body-hugging, floral-print dress to the premiere of “Elizabethtown.” This is definitely one of her better red carpet looks. The dress has enough character to stand out and we think that it really shows of her killer figure. According to Wikipedia, Jessica Biel had auditioned for the lead role in the film, but she was given a smaller role as Orlando Bloom’s character’s girlfriend. The lead role instead went to Kirsten Dunst.

Premiere Home of the Brave – 2006

Jessica Biel wore a black, strapless, knee-length, baby doll dress to the premiere of “Home of the Brave.” There are many things to like about this ensemble – the hair, the earrings, the shoes – but the dress itself isn’t that great. It billows out way too much. With her figure, a tight dress generally looks way better. Biel received good reviews for her performance in the film; however, the film itself ended up being a commercial failure.

12th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards – 2007

The “Home of the Brave” star wore a yellow, strapless, body-hugging dress to the 12th Annual Critics Choice Awards. We love this color on her; however, the fit of the dress looks a lot like many of the other dresses she has worn on the red carpet. Jessica isn’t especially adventurous when it comes to fashion. Even though she was really pushing her acting career, she was getting more attention for her appearance. In 2007, she was voted No. 1 on Stuff magazine’s list of “100 sexiest women.”

Premiere of Planet 51 – 2009

Jessica Biel tried a very different look at the premiere of “Planet 51.” She wore a silk faille dress by Oscar de la Renta with a beige Mayle cardigan sweater and nude flats. She accessorized with a thick, gold Lorraine Schwartz necklace. While we will most certainly give Biel props for trying something new, we really don’t think the sweater or the necklace really work with the outfit; however, we love the dress and the shoes.

Premiere of Valentine’s Day – 2010

“The Illusionist” star dressed to the nines for the premiere of “Valentine’s Day.” She wore a ruby tie dyed organza one shoulder gown by Oscar de la Renta with nude Christian Louboutin shoes and Stephen Russell jewels. We think she looks lovely, but we can’t help but wonder if she might be a little overdressed for the event. The film itself ended up being a success at the box office; however, it received mostly negative reviews from critics.

MTV Movie Awards – 2011

Jessica Biel looked beautiful and sophisticated at the MTV Movie Awards in this Giambattista Valli dress. It featured a polka dot white blouse with an embellished skirt and a pink bow around the waist. She finished the look with Pierre Hardy black suede jeweled sandals. This is by far our favorite outfit of Biel’s. Even though her acting career wasn’t super hot, if she keeps dressing like this, she could easily become one of the best dressed stars on the red carpet.

Premiere of Hitchcock – 2012

The “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” star looked totally unfashionable at the premiere of “Hitchcock.” She wore this silver sequined Oscar de la Renta tunic and trouser set with Manolo Blahnik sandals and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. The outfit did nothing to highlight her best features, one being her fantastic figure, and made her toned physique look frumpy. To think she was making so much progress a year earlier!

66th Cannes Film Festival – 2013

Jessica Biel donned a feather-and-embroidered confection dress from Marchesa’s Fall 2012 collection with a serpent necklace and Manolo Blahnik heels for her husband Justin Timberlake’s premiere of “Inside Llewyn Davis” at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. This elegant-looking dress is a vast improvement over the tunic and trouser set that she wore to the premiere of “Hitchcock.” Biel definitely stole the show from her musician-actor husband.

86th Academy Awards – 2014

The stunning star went all out for the 86th Academy Awards. She shimmered in a strapless, sequined-embroidered Chanel haute couture gown with Manolo Blahnik heels and Tiffany & Co. jewels. We really like this gown on her. It hugs her in all the right spots and it has enough class and elegance to really help her stand out on the red carpet. Unfortunately, she attended the ceremony alone without her superstar husband Justin Timberlake.
